Woman charged with attempted abduction of baby

A woman has been charged after the attempted abduction of a baby near Blackpool promenade. Members of the public and the baby's parent intervened when the woman tried to walk away with the pram with the baby inside at about midday on Saturday, Lancashire police said. Nicolette Goldrick, from Marton Drive , has been charged with child abduction and police assault. The 51-year-old has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Lancaster Magistrates Court on Monday. Ch Insp John Jennings-Wharton said the attempted abduction was being "treated as an isolated incident" and police are not looking for anybody else in relation to the incident which happened near Coral Island. "I know this incident has understandably caused the community a great deal of concern and I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank people for their patience and allowing us to fully investigate this matter," he added. Horror as baby in pram ‘snatched in front of parent' at UK seaside hotspot as woman arrested over ‘attempted abduction'

A WOMAN has been arrested after allegedly trying to snatch a baby in front of their parent, in a popular UK seaside destination. Police are now investigating the events leading up to the shocking incident which took place on May 10. 1 A mysterious woman approached a parent at 11.30 near the Coral Island Amusement Centre, at the Blackpool promenade. When a member of the public spotted her allegedly trying to wheel away the baby and the pram, passersby took action and phoned the police. Thankfully, the baby was unharmed. A police spokesman said: "Members of the public, and the baby's parent intervened, and thankfully the baby was unharmed." Ch Insp John Jennings-Wharton, of Blackpool Police said: "We know that something like this can be very concerning for the community to hear about. "We are in the early stages of our investigation and are working to establish the full circumstances. "We are aware of some social media posts that have been shared online. "We'd encourage you not to speculate, and to understand that our enquiries are very much ongoing. "If you do have information or footage that could assist those enquiries, we ask you report them to us through the appropriate channels."

It follows an incident which took place a few hundred metres from Blackpool promenade where a baby was being pushed in their pram when a stranger approached the baby and their parent. People nearby noticed what was happening and stepped in to help the baby's parent. The incident took place at about 11:30 BST on Central Drive, near to Coral Island amusement centre. A police spokesman said: "Members of the public, and the baby's parent intervened, and thankfully the baby was unharmed."
